Alexandra Tung

Advisor on Nutrition

Alexandra brings over 10 years of international experience in nutrition to her current role at the Shamba Centre. She previously worked at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and World Food Programme (WFP).

Alexandra’s expertise spans from nutrition sensitive food systems, mainstreaming nutrition in policies and programmes, and the research, development and application of dietary indicators and assessment. 

In addition, she has coordinated multi-country projects as well as advised and developed capacities for donors, policy makers, programme planners and researchers across Africa, Southeast Asia and Central Asia.

Alexandra has co-authored several FAO publications, including Minimum dietary diversity for women, and developed an e-learning course, Agrifood system pathways to healthy diets. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University and a Master's of Science degree in Agriculture, Food and Environment from the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
